THE SINS OF DAN ORBIH: Part One

To political watchers outside Edo state, the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) looks set to take over power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in September 2020. The crisis in the APC is in every way, irreconcilable. The PDP only needs to conduct a free and fair primary to choose a governorship candidate and that will be all.

However, unknown to the outsiders, the PDP is facing a bigger home-grown monster in the person of the immediate past state chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih. A man who is a negative decimal in the PDP from the time he joined the party until now.

This is how it all started. After losing woefully in the ANPP governorship primary in 2003, Dan Orbih was given Ten Million Naira to join the PDP, a party he saw as a cash cow. He was first appointed to the NNPC Board on the party’s platform where he pilfered hundreds of millions. From the day he joined the party he fought hard to become the State Chairman joining issues with Ikhabafe. It wasn’t long before Ikhabafe passed on under mysterious circumstances to Dan Orbih’s delight, who quickly jumped into his shoes and held on to it until this year 2020, when he was forced out by congress.

Indeed Dan Orbih had found an enterprise in the Edo State PDP.
